The Folsom complex appeared roughly 10,900 years ago and survived for about six centuries. Mammoths were extinct by Folsom times, and the Blackwater Draw hunters mainly targeted a now-extinct form of bison, plus the occasional pronghorn antelope and mountain sheep. Not as widespread as Clovis, Folsom remains are confined to the Great Plains, American Southwest, and the central and southern reaches of the Rocky Mountains.
